The Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards Wrocław, Poland October 29th > November 12th   Zero Budget Festival is a multidisciplinary arts event organized by the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards that will take place in Wrocław, Poland. The Festival will promote well-known and less known, established and debutant theatre groups, individual artists, scholars who are interested in an active approach to society, culture and the individual. Zero Budget Festival is a feast of works, an extended gathering between theatre practitioners in which the accent is placed on exchange.
The Festival will host 23 theatre groups, 4 music concerts, 4 video projections, 4 gallery exhibitions, 3 readings of poetry and prose, 10 conference/lectures, 3 practical workshops and 2 community projects. Zero Budget Festival is a response to our need to resist what we feel as a growing isolation of theatre groups from one another within our cultural landscape. It is a chance for everyone to see numerous creations, and to come to know the motivations, objectives and realities through which they come to fruition. Meetings such as Zero Budget Festival, which exist outside of the realms of commerce and competition, are vital for the performing arts community, helping a new air to circulate. Thus, we have created this truly zero budget and zero income undertaking! For this purpose, we are doing our utmost to provide the performers with free housing, free venues and "at cost" food for the duration of the Festival.Participants hail from Poland, Italy, France, England, Turkey, Germany, the United States and Canada. During Zero Budget Festival, the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards will also present aspects of its performing arts research, hold a retrospective of film documentations, and host the final conference of project Horizons (2007 - 2009).
