Identity in Pirandello

The annual one-day conference of the Society for Pirandello Studies aims to embrace a wide variety of methods and approaches to Pirandello’s oeuvre, and to bring together theatre professionals, critics and scholars representing a range of disciplines.

This year we are pleased to announce that we will be introducing performances alongside  conference papers.

Particularly welcome are performances related to the conference’s general topic, ‘Selves as Others: Identity in Pirandello’. Performances can be in the form of a monologue, dialogue, reading, or a short scene (either in English or in Italian). Other contributions are also very welcome.

Proposals of c. 200 words for performances lasting a maximum of 20 minutes should be sent to PirandelloSociety@gmail.com, as well as to Enza De Francisci at e.francisci@ucl.ac.uk, and include:

1)      Description of the performance

2)      A list of technical requirements

3)      A short biography (c. 100 words)

4)      Contact details of performers involved

The deadline for abstracts is Monday 11 September 2012.

Please note that performers must be available for one rehearsal based at the Bloomsbury Theatre in October 2012 (date to be confirmed). Performers who are unable to attend the rehearsal should provide an online link or a CD / DVD recording of the performance.
