INTERNATIONAL RENDEZVOUS
Sharing Expertise and Discussing Theatre and Dance

The 10-day performing arts Rendezvous allows young professionals to develop contacts and networks during the Festival TransAmériques. Some thirty young professionals aged 25 to 35 – performers and critics from Quebec, Canada and abroad – will discuss and compare their artistic and critical approaches, talk about the FTA shows with other artists and take part in workshops, discussion groups and seminars hosted by veteran artists or critics. The Rendezvous is a great opportunity to broaden their views regarding contemporary theatre, dance and performance art, to share their expertise and to discuss openly with their peers. Joint activities as well as events specific to artists or critics are on offer, and participants will be accompanied by a cultural mediator throughout the project. All events take place in the highly stimulating environment of the 6th edition of the Festival TransAmériques, where participants will be attending a wide range of performances.

“This project brought together a group of artists from around the world. It allowed me to establish new contacts with others in my chosen field, and also with other theatre disciplines. I was able to discuss local working conditions with young artists of my generation, to discover the shows in the FTA program, talk with both up-and-coming and veteran theatre professionals and discover the Montreal theatre milieu. I made fantastic new contacts, met interesting young artists and had incredible group experiences."

Nils Haarmann, Berlin, Schaubühne

FESTIVAL TRANSAMÉRIQUES
An international event celebrating new works in contemporary dance and theatre, the Festival TransAmériques combines disciplines and artistic trends under cohesive programming. The Festival presents exciting forms of the art of our era, featuring works by choreographers, writers and directors. The only criterion is to present strong work, regardless of theme or place of origin.
Festival TransAmériques, 6e édition, 24 au 9 juin 2012.

PARTICIPANTS

Over the past decade, more than 150 young professionals from France, Wallonia-Brussels, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Israel, Chile, Brazil and Canada have taken part in this project. From 2001 to 2010 it was aimed at playwrights, directors, set designers and choreographers, but since 2011 critics have also been included. These young professionals seek to improve their particular skills and contribute to the growth and development of their chosen art form.
