The Department of Music and Performing Arts (DMS), the first of its kind in Italy, was created in 1982 within the Institute of Communication and Performance Disciplines.
Since then represents, together with the Department of Visual Arts, the principal scientific structure of references of the 1st cycle degree course DAMS.
The library of the DMS is one of the most important, at an international level, for the disciplines of music and performing arts, with 35,000 volumes, 6,000 music scores and 670 journals, among which are 315 current subscriptions.
Regarding the postgraduate education, there is a Masters level I in Performance Arts Entrepreneur at the DMS; 2nd cycle degree courses (Musical Direction and Performance-classes on Musical Education), and two Research Doctorates (Musicology and Cultural Heritage; Musical and Theatrical Studies).
