Content Driven Approaches (4): Audio Description

How will MPEG-7 descriptions originate? "Aren't media producers and archives too busy to spend time annotating content?"

descriptors are coming from the following possible places:

• Existing catalogues, thesauri, taxonomies, subject classifications,  research on sound documents

• Preservation (and usage) of existing descriptive data (e.g. manuscripts, scores)  through the production/delivery chain

• Generated automatically by capture devices (e.g. time or GPS location  in a camera, time code, redord ID & protocol in the sound recorder)

• Extracted automatically & semi-automatically (i.e. with some human assistance)

• Manually produced (e.g. for legacy material such as existing  sound and film archives)
