Nevertheless, the pros of digitisation need not to emphasised once again. There are many digital projects running for more than 30 years accumulating considerable large volumes of digital data in several migration cycles without any loss of information. Some of them started working already on storage devices for punchcards, went on to 800/1600 bit/inch magnetic tapes, to hard disks, flexible disks, optical disks arriving at the storage systems of today.

As a general rule, libraries and archives should proceed in efforts preserving the original material as done successfully up to day.
