Deborah
Kapchan is Associate Professor of Anthropology at
the University of Texas at Austin. She is the
author of Gender on the Market: Moroccan Women
and the Revoicing of Tradition (1996), as
well as numerous articles on narrative and
performance. Her second book, Traveling Spirit
Masters; Sound, Image and Word in the Global
Marketplace, is a study of Moroccan Gnawa
music and musicians and their collaborations with
American and French artists in Morocco, France
and the United States. |
